BUILDING HEALTH AND SAFETY RULES FOR CONTRACTORS BEFORE THEY COMMENCE WORK:
- All Contractors are to book In and Out via the Main Reception or Sky Lobby.
- All Contractors are to wear at all times a Visitors Pass.
- They must understand what to do in a site emergency, e.g. Fire. Know what the alarm sounds like and how to escape from your work area. If you do not know ask!
- Make sure they have a Permit to Work.
- Make sure they have conducted SSOW and/or Risk Assessments as required.
- Make sure they know how to contact the General Manager/Maintenance Manager in an emergency.
- They must understand the Site Health and Safety Risk Assessment for their work area – the General Manager can show you and them a copy and explain what it means.
- Park correctly – the General Manager/Concierge can tell them where.
POINT WEST BUILDING RULES
- Do not smoke in common areas – the General Manager will inform them of the permitted smoking area.
- Wear the right protective clothing – do not work without a shirt.
- Lay protective matting through the common areas if it is intended to move waste and/ or rubble through the building. While they are working – they must keep their work area safe and tidy.
- Avoid disturbing other site occupants and visitors – please keep noise to a minimum and don’t play loud music.
- Work is only permitted between the hours of 9.00-17.00 hrs Mon thru Friday
- Do not block Fire Exits and other access routes.
- Do not tamper with anything if you don’t have permission.
- Follow safety instructions and signs. Do not go anywhere you shouldn’t.
- When they finish working, contractors must leave their work area safe, secure and tidy. Taking all waste away with them.
NOTIFY THE GENERAL MANAGER OR POINT WEST STAFF IF:
- You or they see something that could be dangerous;
- You or they have damaged or broken something; and/or
- You or they are not sure about anything to do with your work or our safety rules.
REMEMBER THAT YOU AND YOUR CONTRACTORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR WORKING SAFELY ON AND IN THIS BUILDING.
DON’T PUT YOURSELF OR OTHERS AT RISK.
DAMAGE TO THE FABRIC OF THE BUILDING OR FACILITIES WILL BE CHARGED AS APPROPRIATE.
ASBESTOS AT POINT WEST
- A professional survey of the Residential Common Areas of the Point West Complex was carried out in May 2006 by Waterman Environmental Consulting Engineers
- Asbestos was only identified in one isolated location in a Plant room on Basement Level 3
